Machine Operator/CAD Designer

Our client is a UK bag maker which has been in business since 1878, manufacturing all kinds of custom made bags for high street and designer retailers, industrial businesses, exhibitions, promotions and launches.
They design and make a wide range of products including printed bags and eco-friendly cotton bags.
They’re recruiting for a machine operator/CAD Designer to join their team in March, and support the smooth running of the factory by ensuring textile materials are cut to the correct patterns using the Automatic Cutting Machine (Gerber) and presented to the sewing machinists for assembly into finished goods.
Additionally, they’re looking for the candidate to be trained in CAD Design. Full training will be provided to the selected candidate, involving training from our existing CAD Designer and external training via an AutoCAD course at Peterborough Regional College.
Must Haves
•Good PC literacy.
•Strong communication skills, with the ability to work on own initiative and contribute within a team.
•Good organisational skills.
•Ability to work accurately, with a keen eye for detail.
Key Deliverables
•Cut textile products at specified production rates.
•Maintain high quality standards, with a rework rate due to error in product selection or machine set-up of below 5%.
•Work closely with Designer and Factory Supervisor to maximise output.
•Regularly inspect and maintain automatic cutting machine.
“Must Do” Duties
•Taking of works orders and cutting on Gerber.
•Lifting rolls of fabric, loading and unloading automatic cutter.
•Cutting of sundries associated with works orders.
•Fill in and submit weekly time sheet for job costing calculations.
•Book out stock used in cutting on product bin cards.
•Carry out daily machine checks prior to operation.
•Report any anomalies to Factory Supervisor as soon as possible.
•This is a physical role which involves manual handling of textiles.

To enable operations to deliver the Gears strategy of becoming the worlds lowest cost processer the factories need optimised, compliant and sustainable control and electrical systems. In conjunction with the factory teams you will lead the development and drive the implementation of an ongoing programme of initiatives, including the £2m upgrade of the factory distrubuted control systems. As part of the upgrade you will drive a programme to ensure the increased functionality can be exploited to deliver increasing operational improvements.
The scope of the role incompasses all areas of control and electrical systems including asset plans, asset care, applications, people development and ownership of the Control System and Electrical Code of Practice.
The role holder will also be an integral member of the Operations Services team and will have the opportunity to support other areas of the team.

Project Safety, Health & Environment Manager - Peterborough - Up to £50,000

To support the project manager by providing specialist environmental planning management of all aspects of the project and ensure complete compliance with legal requirements and the clients standards throughout the project concept development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. In addition this role will require the individual to manage the Health & Safety requirements associated with project(s).
To be a visible champion of health & safety and environmental standards and requirements and fully understand the Planning requirements relevant to the project(s) and site location.
To ensure a project health, safety & environmental strategy and approach to planning is in place and support the project team to deliver it.
Key Result Areas:
• Responsible for developing and owning project SHE strategy in conjunction with Project Manager & Engineering Manager.
• Responsible for managing and owning the Planning requirements, activities and work streams.
• Influence the project manager and other project team members to deliver a safe project from initiation and concept stages, through design and during construction and subsequent operations.
• Set project safety KPIs, and report on these, from the start of the project.
• Indentify environmental risks and impacts to the project from project initiation stage.
• Deliver EIA, ES and planning application (and manage process).
• Manage all the external and internal stakeholder groups in relation to the Planning requirements, and successfully manage these interfaces.
• Deliver EA Permitting application (and manage process).
• Manage site works (e.g. ecological impact mitigation).
• Ensure project is delivered in compliance with our clients standards and legal requirements.
• Ensure HS&E is not compromised by cost or schedule pressures.
• Ensure project team is aware of their H&S responsibilities/duties.
• Interface with external agencies and regulators.
• Manage any 3rd party consulting or contractor resource used for Safety, Health or Environmental, and Planning work or management.
• Audit SHE performance of third party contractors.
• Set construction safety targets in conjunction with the project manager and construction manager.
• Manage reporting and investigation of SHE incidents.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
• Robust experience in environmental or health and safety management.
• Experience of managing and gaining the necessary Planning requirements for a major capital project.
• Ability to coach and influence all levels of site and company personnel.
• Holder of NEBOSH general certificate.
• Scientific or engineering background is desirable (ideally degree level qualified).
• IEMA (or equivalent) membership.
• NEBOSH Diploma.
• Detailed knowledge of environmental permitting procedures and requirements, impact assessment and planning application processes.
• Detailed knowledge of construction safety regulations.
• Knowledge of relevant H&S codes of practice.
• Experience in dealing with external regulators (HSE or Environment Agency).
• Ideally experience of working on major capital investment projects as a SHE manager, from project development through to delivery.
