Quality Manager Up to £30,000 Exeter

MAIN DUTIES:
Lead a team of Goods in Operatives, ensuring they consistently apply Company standards for booking in and quality checks.
Develop a competent team who are capable of making accurate decisions for acceptance, rejection or concession of received goods.
Coach and develop the teams understanding of quality standards and procedures, to include on the job training, random checks of work and appraisals.
Agree quality standards, tolerances and method of audit in conjunction with the Sales Director and Purchasing team.
Communicate quality standards to the Goods in Team, including the production of visual aids and instructions where required.
Responsible for the accurate analysis of all customer returns, this will include the production of monthly stats and reports detailing trends, for the Board report.
Responsible for the accurate inspection information held on the Company systems, and accurate, timely completion of relevant documentation.
Responsible for completing technically accurate reports for the purchasing department and suppliers.
Where appropriate, ensure any changes to specification have engineering function changes agreed with Sales or R&D.
Where appropriate, evaluate rework potential, including resources required and impact on the existing operation / customer orders.
Initially, in conjunction with purchasing, but subsequently developing into individual responsibility for onsite inspections in our major suppliers factories, which will involve international travel.
Responsible for the safe, efficient storage of all goods received, including accurate logging of all stock, stock transfers and intra company movements.
Follow set company procedures and health and safety guidelines at all times.
Ensure the QC work areas are tidy, safe and any hazards are removed or minimalised.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Experience working with domestic heating appliances.
Previous experience of Line Management responsibilities, including development and measurement of team standards.
Ability to present information in statistical, factual and diplomatic manner.
Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings.
Proven track record of commercial awareness and understanding of quality on the supply chain.
Evidence of quality or engineering qualification, ideally to HNC level.
Intermediate knowledge of word packages, ideally with experience of Photoshop.
Ability to operate a counter-balance and reach truck, or willingness to complete training.
Enthusiasm to learn new skills and ability to grasp large amounts of product information.
Driving License essential.
HGV License advantageous, but not essential.
Ability to work to set standards and procedures and remain health and safety conscious at all times.

Reporting directly to the Technical Director, a Research and Development Manager is required to join a very innovative gas and electric fire Research and Development team. You will have the ability to manage a team responsible for taking projects from initial design brief through full development and into production. Innovative and ability to produce new ideas, which will carry the company forward in new product design is essential to this role. The ideal candidate must have an aptitude for solving problems and formulating solutions. Management skills acquired in a similar environment are essential to the role.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Proven management skills acquired in a similar position are essential to the role.
Proven background in the design and development of decorative effect open fires and decorative effect glass fronted fires in both Conventional flue and Balanced flue format is essential.
Knowledge of general engineering practices and the use of correct materials in the development process is essential.
Knowledge of cooker and/or boiler development is not essential, although desirable.
Knowledge of electric fire development whilst not essential would also be an advantage.
Must be able to work within the budget limitations of the brief and ensure the design meets the tight cost targets in order to produce a competitively priced product.
Must be fully conversant with all the relevant British and European standards applicable to Gas fire approval.
Proven ability to liaise with approval agencies both in the UK and abroad.
Ability to communicate and liaise with all internal departments (design, production engineering, production and purchasing) as well as external suppliers both in the UK and abroad.
Ability to work under their own initiative and actively plan the development program for the department is also essential, as is the ability to work within tight timescales.

Design Engineer - Exeter - Up to £25,000

Working within a team of Design Engineers you will be responsible for the development of new products and design of any on-going modifications of products if needed. Reporting to the Senior Design Engineer you will be part of a key team that helps to ensure our products success.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Work closely with the Industrial Designers, taking a product from conception to creating a detailed engineers drawing from which the product can be created.
Ensure that the drawn specifications allow products to fit together on the production line taking into consideration appropriate production tolerances.
Liaise with a number of departments to ensure the smooth running and smooth production of items. These departments include:
Production Engineers who will advise on the best assembly method taking into account where the parts are going to be made or assembled.
Purchasing department for timely production of drawings for quotation from various suppliers around the world. Also conducting various product design cost exercises.
Utilise all elements of Solid Edge to create an extensive range of materials and processes e.g. cast iron, aluminium extrusions, stone and glass. These materials are used to create some of the decorative parts of the product and producing drawings of these components is another key role.
