RST TECHNICIAN - Hampshire - £11.05 per hour - 6 month contract
Registered Safe Technician
Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role
Load, run and carry out test procedures where required for all instruments going through the RST area.
Contract
£10 to £11 per hour
Key duties:
1. Co-ordinate and prioritise the products through the RST area in conjunction with other RST and production shop floor personnel.
2. Load, un-load and carry out test procedures, where required, on all products that go through RST.
3. Complete all test history information on relevant paperwork as determined by the procedure used.
4. Complete relevant documentation in the event of unit failure.
5. Carry out assembly tasks such as conformal coating, basic rework, IC programming and the like during periods where the main objective allows.
6. Ensure site security by locking up during evening and night shift.
Essential Experience:
• Able to follow written procedures to test a product in accordance with the requirements of the RST environment.
• Sound knowledge of electro-mechanical practices, gained from hands-on experience.
• Able to read and interpret technical data (drawings and technical publications).
• Understanding of basic business processes eg customer requirements.
• Good level of manual dexterity.
• Computer literate, familiar with Excel and Word.
• Good team player.
• Good communication skills (written & verbal).
• Methodical and analytical approach to work.
• Safety orientated

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role
Operating within a matrix oriented organisation to provide focus and leadership for the Company’s activities on one or more programmes and/or bid activities to meet cost, quality and schedule objectives.
Key duties:
1. To provide leadership on one or more programmes/projects with accountability for project performance against its key success criteria. Key success criteria will typically relate to performance within budget, achieving technical performance requirements and completing activities to schedule.
2. Risk management: to identify and quantify risks to the achievement of the key success criteria and planning and executing activities to minimise the impact of each risk.
3. To maintain customer relations through development of an honest business relationship with procurement and engineering staff based on effective communication and adherence to promises.
4. To prepare and maintain project plans to include budgets, resource requirements, task allocation, task dependencies, quality standards etc.
5. To prepare management reports covering progress against budget, schedule etc with recommendations for corrective actions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure delivery documentation satisfies the company and regulatory requirements.
- Accept First Article Inspection Reports to the requirements of AS9102 from the supply chain.
- Maintain a level of supplier contact to ensure any nonconformance is identified, recorded and actioned.
- Develop internal measuring systems including co-ordinate measuring machines.
- Maintain and operate to internal company sampling schemes.
- Aid with equipment calibration as necessary, particularly within the Goods Inwards function.
- Aid other functions with statistical techniques in respect of the supply chain (i.e. SPC, Cpk analysis, etc.).
- Compile First Article Inspection reports to AS9102 as required.
- Actively take part in the nonconformance and MRB Processes.
- Understand the Source Change Process with respect to receipt of product.
- Support supplier KPI activity with Supplier Quality Assurance.
- Aid with supplier development programmes and conduction on-site measurement analysis/assessment.
- Liaison with other parties regarding quality, technical (product failure) and other issues to ensure quality of product and process is maximised.
- High standard of housekeeping to lean/5S requirements.
- Prepared to undertake training relevant to existing or new equipment/processes relevant to the job.
- Willingness to undertake any broadly similar and relevant work within capabilities to further the company’s quality aims.
Education
Educated to a GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English. Engineering apprenticeship or BTEC equivalent preferred.
Specialist Knowledge
· Knowledge of Quality Management Systems AS9100.
· General Aerospace experience.
· Knowledge of Quality Control techniques.
· Auditing knowledge (non-essential).
· AS9102 First Article Inspection.
· Knowledge and experience of measurement techniques.
· Experience of use and programming of Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
· Customer and supplier interaction.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and under own initiative.
· Reading Engineering Drawings.
· Good level of expertise to assist in problem solving.
· All applicable visual and electro-mechanical inspection and test measuring equipment required to perform function;
o CMM, vernier, micrometer, calliper, height gauges.
o Multi-testers, speed, pressure company proprietary test fixtures.
