A good, all round experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.
Aerospace experience is not essential.
Candidates must have a career history as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Essential – experience of basic design calculations, plus knowledge and experience of material selection. For example, when and where to use Aluminium or Stainless Steel, and the effects on the design of switching between these materials.
Composites experience is not essential.
Working on a number of projects in the development of anti-icing and de-icing products for the aerospace industry.
Must have experience of leading the design process from start to finish, seeing a new product made from agreeing the product spec and the client requirements, to prototyping (Project Engineers will see the new product through the Certification Process and Pre-production).
Main Purpose of Job:
To participate in engineering activities under the instruction of the Engineering Manager.
To be able to satisfy technical aspects of a project from conception through to production.
To be able to produce CAD drawings for in house, and external manufacture.
Provide technical solutions to customer requirements and support it with a level of calculation / validation.
Assist in technical reviews both internal and with the customer, providing Design input.
Identify new processes and process improvements and where appropriate assist in their introduction.
Identify and develop new products.
Produce Design documentation inline with program requirements.
Liaison with production, purchasing and test functions to ensure that the Design requirements are met.
Person Specification: ALL Essential
Experience of design processes.
Ability to utilise necessary design tools.
HND/Degree in a related engineering subject.
Basic knowledge of materials.
Advanced knowledge and use of a CAD system – preferably Catia v5.
IT skills: Excel, Word, Outlook & Microsoft Project.
Presentation skills (Power Point)
Willing to learn about new processes and new technologies.
Good Communication Skills at all levels with customers and suppliers and between departments.
Willing to travel and work abroad when required

Our client is a leading branded food manufacturer, producing some of the best known and loved sweet and savoury snacks. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Development Technologist to join their Technical NPD team based in Leicestershire.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The overall purpose of this role is to develop products from concept to launch, and to support Cost Based Release (CBR) and Health and Nutrition initiatives to meet business agenda. Key outputs of the role include:
• Developing product options to meet marketing briefs.
• Planning, executing and reviewing product development trials at test bakery and pilot scale.
• Coordinating factory or scale up trials on both NPD and CBR initiatives.
• Presenting samples to marketing and translating feedback into recipe and/or process developments.
• Supporting the Project Manager and/or Product Development Manager in effective scheduling of project tasks and identification of resource requirements (time, money, people).
• Formulating and communicating, within project teams, project risk assessments, including promoting contingency plans.
• Briefing and liaising with suppliers in line with SMT strategies.
• Working cross-functionally with key functions and stakeholders.
• Completing product and ingredient specifications as appropriate and contributing to project reviews.
• Contributing to idea generation sessions and proactively generating branded product concepts in line with innovation strategies.
The Individual:
The successful candidate will be expected to take responsibility quickly for leading and supporting projects and actively build expertise to a level where they are considered the business expert. The candidate will be a highly motivated self-starting individual with excellent team working skills with a creative approach to problem solving.
They will be of degree calibre having qualifications in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline, and relevant product development or food manufacturing experience. Ideally having experience in savoury snacks, specifically working in development area, managing projects, and understanding of factory processes. They will be flexible and able to work autonomously also having excellent communication/presentation skills being able to work well with teams across the business.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To control designated programmes from programme launch, through the New Product Introduction (N.P.I) process. From time to time this may include managing programmes for the optimisation of existing products and processes.
The key measurable being:
The creation of plans for the management of designated programmes.
Project planning and coordination of cross-functional teams to deliver the programme on time and within budget.
Planning and management of sub-contract operations in relation to development projects, inclusive of new plant, equipment, and tooling requirements.
Liaison with Customer programme team regarding the progress of the project, milestones and deliverables.
Preparation and delivery of project plans and presentations to both customers and management teams within the business.
RESPONSIBLE FOR;
Providing direction to programme teams.
Collating/ and or presenting project data to customers, suppliers and business management team.
This position will also require:
Preparation of comprehensive project data files for review at all levels with the business and externally by both suppliers and customers.
Creation of detailed project plans and progress monitors for presentation to all levels of the business.
Providing reports to be used in a commercial context or in the presentation of business optimisation opportunities.
Predominantly this position is within an office based environment. However, regular contact with customers and suppliers may involve periods of extensive travelling nationally and internationally. The maintenance of dress codes and standards of appearance apply.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Give direction to all levels within the business in order to achieve program plan tasks in the allotted time frame.
Create and change product and process control data within the scope of the relating quality procedures.
Stop production if dangerous practice is in evidence or excessive reject or non-conforming product is being produced.
Creation and control of project plans, data files and reporting tools, providing real time project management data to the business.
Coordination and control of sub-contract related project issues involving new plant, equipment and tooling.
Resolve issues relating to product introduction and business process performance.
Manage appropriate cross functional disciplines to deliver the designated requirements.
Provide both coordination and direction to cross-functional teams engaged in major new business and operational change programmes.
To provide effective Programme Management across all functions of the business.
RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the VP Programs Management, this is a predominantly a cross functional management role to deliver the programme on time and on budget.
Oral Communication is required at all levels within the business, providing direction to programme teams and collating/ presenting project data to customers, suppliers, and business management teams.
