Materials Controller
Reports to: Operations Director/Materials Control Manager
Permanent
£20000 to £25000 per annum
Job Purpose:
" Procurement of all materials through the ERP system (Oracle).
" Set up and manage material ordering processes e.g. i-supply, Min/Max, Kanban.
" Establish and maintain material parameters in the operating systems to optimise stock levels.
" Work with suppliers to achieve optimum material deliveries.
" Support the Planning function to schedule and release production work orders.
" Work with Planning to manage the inter-company material supply.
" Manage material stock at both on-site and off-site warehouses.
" Control the material flow from off-site warehouses to ensure continuity of production.
" Prepare measures and metrics to monitor and drive the purchasing function.
" Support all purchasing and project activities.
Duties:
" Release and expedite orders for raw materials to support production plans.
" Liaise with suppliers on deliveries.
" Establish the optimum processes for each supplier (external and inter-company)
" Monitor stock levels and continually amend planning parameters to optimise the process.
" Assist in scheduling and planning to ensure continuity of production.
" Interface with other departments, both internally and externally, to achieve the site's output requirements.
" Control the requisition and flow of materials from off-site warehouse.
" Represent the materials function on project teams.
" Manage stock levels and turns for the site.
" Lead cost reduction initiatives and supplier development activities.
" Ensure compliance with company policies and business practices.
Responsibilities:
" To fulfil requirements of Job Purpose and complete all duties described above.
" Issue supplier performance measures and use in supplier development work.
" Daily review of purchasing reports to generate required releases and purchase orders.
" Daily follow up on late deliveries.
" Expedite materials through incoming inspection to stock.
" Control flow of all materials from warehouses, inter-company sites and suppliers.
" Comply with company policies and business practices.
" Ensure confidentiality is always maintained.
" Other duties as assigned and / or are contained in annual goals and objectives.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
" Proven experience in a procurement/ purchasing environment.
" Experience of ERP/MRP systems.
" Knowledge of i-supply processes an advantage.
" Analytical and problem-solving skills.
" Good verbal and written communication skills.
" Good level of numeracy.
" Good IT skills to include windows, word, excel and powerpoint.
" Ability to maintain control under stress situations.
Abilities:
" Ability to make decisions based on available facts and information, coupled with sound judgement is essential.
" Ability to plan and coordinate materials to meet daily production schedules.
" Ability to effectively and quickly address problems as they arise.
" Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and still be able to meet deadlines.
Planning and Decision Making:
" Responsibility for planning and organising the workload, and proactively implementing processes to complete tasks satisfactorily and on time, with limited supervision.
" Able to plan on a daily basis and be flexible.
" Required to make frequent regular task decisions, and to provide input on tactical decisions.
Impact and Scope:
" Provides valuable support in all aspects of the Material / Planning function in order to achieve department, site and organisational objectives.
" Errors and omissions would typically result in failure to achieve the continuity of production and the objectives of the department, site and organisation.
" Help maintain an environment of continuous improvement.

Based at their offices and factory in the Scottish Borders, reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the SPO team. This will include manufacturing, product/part sourcing, in-company sales, customer service, field service, technical support, product design and development.
Responsibilities
• Making sure that production runs smooth and efficiently, meeting delivery & sales targets and problem solving as required.
• Improve product performance while reducing costs and maintaining/improving quality.
• Inventory management of manufactured and sourced parts and equipment.
• Customer service including distributor and end user relations, field sales support, quotations, order processing and field service scheduling.
