My client is a leading transport operator with revenues of over £6 billion. They employ some 125,000 staff throughout the UK and North America and transport some 2.5 billion passengers a year.
Purpose
Accountable for effective management of supplier spend within assigned categories. Accountable for developing and executing supplier strategies to gain maximum value to First through requirements bundling, effective supplier selection and subsequent supplier management within assigned spend categories.

Key responsibilities:
" Analyse supplier spend within assigned spend categories.
" Working with internal stakeholders, effectively lead, design and run procurements to gain maximum value.
" Develop and execute supplier strategies within overall corporate and procurement strategies.
" Effectively manage suppliers through the duration of the contract, ensuring service levels and driving out cost.
" Develop a deep knowledge of the supplier marketplace within assigned categories.
Skills & experience:
" Extensive experience of strategic procurement & supplier management within complex spend categories.
" Track record of delivering value through effective procurements, negotiations and on-going supplier relationship development.
" Strong internal stakeholder engagement skills.
" Experience of reverse auctions and e-rfx projects.
" Ability to clearly articulate supplier selection recommendations and develop business case where necessary.
" Drive and deliver change management.
" Ability to manage procurements spanning different operating companies, stakeholders and decision makers.
