My client is a large engineering organisation with a very stable financial position. They continue to go from strength to strength and as part of their ongoing growth they now require a Production Controller. In this role you will play a crucial part in ensuring that the Assembly Production Orders are Planned and Scheduled to align towards the customer’s request date. By Planning and Scheduling the Assembly Production Orders this will enable proactive communication back to Customers.

Reporting to the Master Production Scheduler, the successful candidate will be accountable for the Planning and Scheduling of product assemblies ensuring that the supply of parts (both Made In and Bought Out) are aligned to enable the assembly of seals in line with the Test Plan.

Responsibilities;
• Planning and Scheduling the range of products Assembly Production Orders to align to the Test Plan.
• Actively process relevant MRP messages, this will require liaison with the Purchasing and Manufacturing teams.
• Ensure Production Orders are maintained with up to date texts relevant to the status, this will enable the CST and Commercial teams to proactively communicate to customers.
• Capacity Plan to ensure full utilization of the Assembly and Test teams.

In this role you will be responsible for scheduling, planning and purchasing for the engineering and manufacturing sectors, with extensive contact with the supplier base.
Duties will include planning and scheduling via an MRP system, sourcing and purchasing of a range of parts, managing purchasing master data and vendor expediting, requiring experience of expediting, SAP systems and negotiations.

You should therefore be an experienced Buyer / Purchaser / Procurement professional with a manufacturing or engineering background and experience of planning, scheduling and expediting via MRP / SAP systems.

Salary and benefits include bonus of upto 25% salary, car or car allowance of £600 per month, other benefits etc.

Key Responsibilities

Achieving cost reduction targets through retrospective rebates and lower purchase prices.

Effective negotiation of lower pricing through:
• Introducing or maximising existing retrospective discount schemes with suppliers.
• Leveraging purchase volumes.

Gain improved pricing for large projects.
Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with new suppliers.
Track individual and team performance against annual targets and objectives.
Collate and analyse various purchasing data as required.
Ensure the accuracy of supplier pricing is maintained.

Experience

• Degree level education or equivalent.
• Experience of working in purchasing ideally retail, wholesale or distribution.
Also
• Experience in a similar role within a sales orientated, high volume, modern retailer, distributor or supplier.
• Inventory management skills.
