Responsibilities:
" Taking the production plan for Manchester and controlling the MRP requests to make ready for sales deliveries.
" Planning major options to support the assigned instrument and buying the major spares.
" Progress material orders via buyer / planners as assigned appropriate MRP controller to ensure maximum company output ensuring material holding and sales output progress at all times.
" Issue Production orders in line with the output plan as defined in company procedures.
" Attend weekly output meeting and provide weekly progress for assigned products for production / finished goods & sales output.
" Resolve or Liaise problematic issues for assigned products to tech QA support to meet prod output.
" Amend MRP planning data where appropriate with product planning department or as required.
" Assign where appropriate end item "Make to Order" products for appropriate sales order making ready for delivery.
" Control and place purchase orders for assigned purchasing group. Ensure purchase order delivery either through expedite or via supplier assessment process.
" Ensure a high level of IS0 awareness to audit level with good corrective action against process, noting all inputs and outputs.
" Escalate problematic issues upwards to senior management. Ensure progress against assign KPI.
" To ensure own personal training is undertaken through training requests to his/her Line Manager.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills Required:
" Purchasing qualification to degree or diploma standard.
" Good negotiation skills.
" 2 years' experience in a similar working environment. Experience of negotiating in an engineering environment would be an advantage.
" Ability to travel on Company business and a clean UK driving license to enable the incumbent drive on company business.
" PC literate.
" Working knowledge of MRP would be an advantage.

Knowledge of the following computer packages is desirable but not essential: Computer Skills - Microsoft Excel, Word for Windows, Access Database.

Principal Accountabilities:

Buying and Procurement of chemical products:
" Negotiating with Suppliers purchase of products with competitive terms on product quality, price and credit terms.
" Liaising with the Production team to ensure timely and quality supply of Raw Materials.

Other responsibilities:
" Placing orders in system and communicating with external suppliers.
" Progress and track deliveries against Purchase orders as required to ensure adequate stock for production.
" Liaise with the group companies for inter company purchases.
" Maintain purchase prices and information on SAP and similar data base.
" Resolving queries on quality, volumes, etc.
" Coordinate local transport movements to achieve cost effective utilisation.
" To be aware of relevant regulations with respect to purchase, customs, VAT for purchase and transportation of the products.

On average this candidate will be involved in annual purchases of €30-40m including commodity products. They would be dealing with companies in France, Poland, China, etc. So this experience is vital.
The role may be expanded to purchase materials for other subsidiaries in Europe too.

Skills and Experience required for the Job:
" 5-8 years in a Purchasing Management role.
" Fluent in French - Preference to Native French speaking candidate.
" Experience of a manufacturing / process industry set up [ such as Chemicals, pharma, agro-chemicals etc].
" Willingness to travel in Europe (especially Paris to liase with local company)
" ABILITY TO WORK UNDER PRESSURE AND ACHIEVE DEADLINES
" Knowledge of SAP or similar systems.
