My client employs over 25,000 staff, and has 30 offices world-wide. My client is focussed on supplying metals from global suppliers to UK & European customers. The department is looking to recruit an additional Materials Controller to support the team.
Responsibilities
- Quickly learn existing processes / activities to manage end-to-end supply-chains.
- Stock Management.
- Maintaining and improving relationships with customers / supplier / 3rd Party logistics companies.
- Invoicing / administrative activities.
- Financial reporting.
- Support new business / new supply-chain development.
- Assist with the development of improved processes.
- Contribute to the development of improved IT processes / systems.
Ideally, candidates should have the following attributes:
- Degree or relevant practical experience.
- Critically, the ability and attitude to manage an end-to-end supply-chain (after training)

- Capable of dealing with financial issues including the challenges of multi-currency.
- Full driving licence.

Commodity Lead/Senior Buyer - Aerospace

My client specialises in managing the supply chain for customers within the aerospace industry. Over the past few years they have seen significant growth and as a result have just moved to a brand new purpose built facility near Derby.
Reporting to the Commodity Manager, the purpose of this role will be;
The development, issue, analysis and negotiation from bidder lists and commitment of purchase orders in line with procurement strategy for commodity, leading and supporting the buying teams to optimise total acquisition cost.
To develop open, honest, long-lasting relationships with key decision makers within the commodity group as well as strong inter-working relationships, driving continuous improvement to maintain a market leading supply chain management.
Responsibilities
Research, analyse, assess and evaluate the supply markets, benchmark capability, supplier finances, competitor activity, emerging markets and manufacturing/product technology and act as a subject matter expert to deliver lowest cost of acquisition
Prepare, issue, evaluate and communicate outcome of RFPs including assessment of risk in tenders and recommend provisions and contingencies to drive lowest cost of acquisition.
Negotiate Long Term Agreements to support the agreed commodity strategy.
Manage the transition of parts from existing to new sources of supply, including any co-ordination of qualification activities required to support supply base reduction.
Capture and apply sourcing lesson learned on both process and outcome to improve sourcing effectiveness.
Participate and support product, package and global commercial sourcing requirements and commercial negotiations to support business growth.
Drive the delivery of annual cost saving initiatives and meet the terms of any contractual obligations.
Operate a policy of continual improvement within the role and strive to improve all the processes that you operate including the use of advanced purchasing information systems and e-commerce.
Work where appropriate as part of cross-function teams from across the business on supply chain improvement and/or problem resolution.
Drive annual performance improvement plans related to your team or assigned projects or for strategic/key suppliers, working in conjunction where necessary with Supplier Development Engineers or customers and issue KPIs in reporting tools.
Adhere to all policies and regulations in relation to product sourcing, governed by either legislation, customer specific/contractual requirements or company policies.
Quality driven and raises standards where necessary to meet new requirements from customers, suppliers, legislation; and communicates them appropriately within Purchasing procedures.
Travel to other facilities, Customer and/or Supplier sites may be required from time to time, sometimes involving overnight stays.

Provides the main interface between the company and the supply base, developing and building strong relationships and driving process improvements. The department satisfies the company need to support sales through the management of a global supply base in line with defined business parameters helping to maintain the company as a market leader in supply chain management.
Purpose
To define, control, deploy and provide focus for commodity sourcing and performance on price, and total cost of acquisition, managing the flow of inbound materials from strategic vendors to meet and exceed customer service levels and commercial objectives defined by the procurement strategy.
To be responsible for the vendor performance on Quality, Cost and Delivery and accountable for Inventory impact and usage and alignment of activities in the sourcing strategies defined for the commodities under jurisdiction.
Responsibilities;
Define and drive annual (Operational and Strategic) and 5 year (Strategic) sourcing strategies for each commodity group / sub group for the portfolios and supply chains assigned to you, to deliver the Procurement QCD objectives.
Establish annual vendor improvement plans and performance KPIs to manage and improve the QCD performance in support of internal customer strategies and objectives.
Manage all operational and / or strategic sourcing at part or package level to deliver annualised pricing improvement and margin benefit, either directly through your team or in conjunction / cooperation with other Strategic resources for the assigned supply chains.
Drive continuous process improvement throughout the whole supply chain to improve order processing, demand and supply chain signal management and establish consistent and sustainable schedule adherence and delivery control in line with targets.
Drive best practice and improve operating procedures between all Procurement teams to leverage a consolidated spend, supply chain relationships and commercial / contractual benefit.
Lead and negotiate all strategic pricing agreements linked to all key commodities and customer requirements and to establish formal Contracts (Long Term Agreements) in support of the commercial and operational performance KPIs embracing all addressable spend.
Define, lead and execute all supplier rationalisation programmes relative to your own commodities and portfolios internally, including part transfer processes, and in conjunction with all strategically lead activities within the UK and in support of other European Region or Global activities as may be required.
Drive the measurement of all commercial activities, through timely generation of KPIs to deliver the set departmental objectives.
Execute process simplification across all aspects of material flows including the roll out of new processes and systems and the automation of tasks to generate measurable process efficiencies within your team / department each year.
Drive the parts transfer process for resourcing activities locally or in conjunction with New Product Introductions (NPI) resources or procedures, to ensure that there are no liabilities or supply gaps.
Resource your team to meet the objectives in line with performance and budgetary parameters and ROI.
Promote cross functional interaction between teams, functions and facilities at all times so as to maximise profit and manage inventory levels within specified parameters.
Lead the management, mentoring and development of all team resources to aid personal development .within the individual training matrices and defined competency levels.
Deputise for the Commodity Director as required.
Comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection and all those contained within the issued Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual.
Undertake other duties and tasks that may be allocated that are appropriate to the job.
