Procurement Manager Aerospace

This Senior Management position holds responsibility for the development and management of the departments at the Wales, south coast and the Supply base, to provide world class Procurement and Stock Control in support of companys business requirements and the needs of the customers. Reporting to the Procurement and Overseas Sourcing Director and working closely with the Operations Managers at each division.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
§ To develop and implement World Class Procurement and Supply Chain strategies by Supplier / Commodity.
§ To develop and implement Supplier relationship Management, Specifically:
§ Supplier performance and development reviews with all key suppliers.
§ Formal SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) measurement.
§ To develop Sourcing / Vendor selection Strategy.
§ To maintain and develop Vendor assessment and development process, leading to authorised / preferred vendor list. To encapsulate a supply base rationalization programme.
§ To continually assess the departmental structure and staff resources, identifying and implementing development initiatives or change management to provide World Class services.
§ To provide professional departmental leadership, encompassing all aspects of people management and development.
§ To develop and implement processes to provide PPS (Purchasing & Payment Schedules) with full Procurement and Order Book Management service, the department becoming the key interface between Magellan Aerospace and its supply base.
§ Develop and manage Quotation / RFQ process, to support business requirements.
§ To work closely with Group Strategic Procurement to provide divisional input and encompass Group strategies.
§ To champion the development of Vendor Scheduling and other initiatives to improve processes and reduce operational costs.
§ To provide Senior Management support for the escalation and resolution of critical part shortages / supplier issues. To keep company Directors appraised of issues and their status and to propose intervention strategies at Director level as appropriate.
§ To provide operational reporting and develop, maintain and publish activity related KPIs.
§ To provide professional Purchasing and Supply Chain perspective at relevant senior management forums.
§ To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by Magellan Aerospace Ltd.
The Person:
Reporting to the Procurement and Overseas Sourcing Director, the Procurement Manager will have;
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply with 5 years experience.
An understanding of legal framework especially contract law.
A full understanding of EFACS MRPII Ordering System.
Possess effective negotiation, analytical, evaluation and presentation skills with a high competence in the use of Microsoft Office.
A knowledge of 5s / Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing would be beneficial.
Proven track record in a demanding supply chain environment.
Experience of a wide range of technologies appropriate to this industry.
Be willing to travel as and when required.
Self motivated with planning, organising and communication abilities that will provide for the delivery of a professional procurement service.

Work closely with the Divisional Director to project manage all projects for the Thruster and Hydraulics Division. Create new parts, bills of materials and routings to allow timely production of standard and prototype parts. Communicate project information regularly with clients or client project managers.
Work with production / build team to ensure on time completion and test program. Deliver projects to high standard, on time and on budget.
Specific Activities Include:
- Management of projects from acceptance of order, through to delivery at final destination.
- Planning and scheduling of projects, generating scopes of work for design team and ensuring drawing packs are issued in full to production on time.
- Add new parts, Bills of Materials and routings from design drawings to allow production to purchase and schedule work.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget targets.
- Procure specialist / long lead parts ahead of production to ensure on time delivery to client.
- Liaise directly with clients and / or appointed project manager on all specification, order progression and logistical matters.
- Providing technical sales support to existing and new customer accounts to create technical specifications prior to quotes and ordering.
- Undertaking pre-sales technical inspections and customer visits as required.
- Work with the build team to improve build process techniques, and produce build process manuals.
- Identify and implement where agreed with the Directors, improvements in manufacturing methods and/or practice.
- Work with all classification societies, ensure that products comply and rules are up to date.
- To oversee the quality systems and procedures for the division.
- To create custom Owners manuals, and update existing manuals for Thruster and Hydraulics Division.
- Other duties as and when defined by the Board of Directors.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience in a project management or project leader role.
Qualifications or background in engineering
Good IT skills including limited use of CAD package.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to work extended hours as and when the needs of the business dictate.
Good team player.
Other Requirements:
Possess own transport.
Willingness to travel both nationwide and internationally as required.
Extended/Additional hours may need to be worked as and when required to meet demand.
Preference to live within 25 mile radius of Bournemouth area (even if re-located).

To establish and operate a cell of the Fabrication team. To provide the timely and cost effective delivery of fabricated work and ensure standards, procedures and codes of practice are fully applied and adhered to.

Key Functional Responsibilities:
On a weekly basis in conjunction with the Fabrication Production Manager set and achieve the manufacturing plan for the offsite shop with a daily checkout and report on progress and issues.
Lead the weekly scheduling process for the facility in cooperation with the Fabrication Production Manager and the Production Planner.
Cooperate with Cell Leaders, procurement personnel and manufacturing managers to ensure that the cell objectives are met.
In the absence of Fabrication Production Manager ensure continued coordination and delivery of work and compliance with required standards.
Promote and enforce HSE requirements. Support the Cell Leaders in achieving working practice and behaviour improvement in the production and related areas.
Work alongside the Cell Leaders to achieve continuous improvement of welding performance and quality compliance within the team.
Provide advice and practical support across day to day cell operations.
Coordination and optimisation of operations across the cell to ensure priorities are achieved.
Work with the Cell Leaders, Manufacturing/Welding and Facilities Engineers to provide the correct equipment and tooling.
Weekly reporting to the Fabrication Production Manager covering current and potential issues effecting production plan achievement (HSE, quality, compliance, project schedule, resources, training, equipment levels, future plans, shortages on supply and services) and recommend resolutions.
