Part Time Buyer role.
Headquartered in the UK, with sales offices in the Americas, Europe and Asia, and distributors in over 30 countries worldwide, around 90% of the companies production is exported.
On a part time basis:
We are looking to recruit a buyer - on a part time basis initially (16 hours - 2/3 days per week) Monday and Tuesday to start (for training) then Wed PM, Thurs, Fri AM or all day Thurs/ Fri.
This is as a result of succession planning and the fact that one of the senior buyers will be retiring.
Initial training of the successful candidate may mean a 2-3 day week or more depending on availability.
Routine management and main point of contact of suppliers (internal or external) including:-
1. Maintaining adequate order cover, ensuring that materials are ordered and delivered in a timely manner using a variety of purchasing techniques such as blanket or scheduled orders, Faxban orders; to ensure all production requirements are met and within inventory budget. Buyer will ensure that annual blanket orders are negotiated favourably and put in place.
2. Where necessary, travel to suppliers to carry out regular meetings on cost, quality and delivery. Communicate with Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing team on all actions.
3. Progressing orders and resolving supply problems, seeking assistance of Supply Chain Manager where necessary and notifying the Planners if there is any possible impact to production.
4. Keep supplier informed of any specification change from EDCR, concessions etc.
5 Routinely carry out Benchmarking exercises to test and confirm purchases being made are achieving market price (or better).
6 a) Prepare supporting information for cost negotiation with suppliers, including usage information, competitive quotations and comparisons, engineering data/drawings, annual spend with supplier etc.
b) Provide relevant monthly reporting for Commodity spends, audits/meetings with suppliers.
7 Working with the Supply Chain Manager and Supplier to actively improve the vendor performance.
8 Participate in supplier negotiation for medium/low volume/cost items.
9 Where necessary manage supplier change/transition while ensuring continuity of supply is maintained.
Materials/Support
1. To assist and advise production on materials related issues including all aspects of material control, engineering change, and parts availability.
2. To ensure materials are supplied on time to schedule, to meet production requirements and within the agreed budget for inventory levels.
3. Keep all relevant Fourthshift records / information up to date, including:-
• Closing old orders
• Item master MRP / planning codes
• Issue control on existing orders.
4. Actively contribute to all Materials & Purchasing initiatives, including inventory reduction, inventory accuracy improvement and identification of cost saving opportunities.
5. To carry out any other duties as designated by the Supply Chain Manager.

Country Management
1. Establish strong links with key business markets to understand key market dynamics (Service Levels, Machine Demographics, Stock Location Dynamics, Carrier Performance)
2. Proactively work with Service to improve data accuracy of install base management system (SIBEX)
3. Collaborate with the markets to understand current service offering and identify improvement initiatives (e.g. Kits, Tools) to enhance/improve market performance.
4. Understanding market operational costs and work to address inefficiencies.
5. Represent the logistics platform as the main contact point for each country/region.
6. Assist in the performance of market reviews.
Service
1. Attend Product related forums (e.g PEM's, Project Groups, etc) to pre-empt/understand the future direction of the business and the impact on the Logistics/Service function.
2. Maintain alignment of the spares support offering to the spares catalogue.
3. Review and interpret field support material to mitigate risk to the logistics function.
4. Escalate trends in spares usage to investigate & drive improvement initiatives.
Planning
1. Demand planning for all global stocking locations to achieve service delivery targets.
2. Active management of all business owned supply facilities (i.e. Crawley, BMEI, MI, etc).
3. Manage service delivery within the defined corporate inventory targets.
4. Minimise inventory surplus via frequent excess stock re-distribution.
5. Implementation of all Engineering changes in a timely manner to facilitate effective FRU exchange whilst not impacting on service delivery.
6. Actively drive inventory improvements through the identification of obsolete material and the proposal of disposal options.
7. Deliver inventory stock turns in line with corporate objective.
8. Manage and maintain the data integrity of the ERP system (i.e. Item Status, FRU, Item Relationships).
9. Actively identify and contribute to cross functional improvement projects.
10. Maintain all designated process maps, work instructions and documents relevant to the job.
11. Accurately compose & publish updates on availability for the field.
Legacy Systems
1. Actively work to identify global install base of legacy system (EOGS/EOL)
2. Liase with current install base to understand current obligation and market proposals to mitigate business risk.
3. Identification of unique componentry and foreseen availability issues to forewarn the markets of future supply risks.
4. Centralisation and disposal of Obsolete material for unsupported systems.
Responsibilities:
Logistics Platform Project
1. Provide support for the rollout of any future stocking locations.
2. Monitor and feedback on market performance.
3. Track warehouse usage frequency and costs associated with operating locations
Analysis And Development Of Policies.
1. Consitently work to process and highlight process improvements.
2. Escalate process non conformities and actively work to correct.
Global Spares Logistics KPIs
1. Produce and review relevant KPI's
2. Ensure that any KPI's relevant to the markets are communicated effectively.
Qualifications:
" Educated to Degree Level (preferable).
" Good administrative, communication & mathematical/statistical and data manipulation skills (proficient in MS Excel & MS Access reporting).
" Practice of using complex planning tools such as SAP, JD Edwards, BaaN and ERP planning solutions.
