Experience in an FMCG environment and good working knowledge of ERP systems is essential. Communication and IT skills are important. The ability to plan workloads efficiently and provide forecast information as well as having experience in placing orders for raw materials and packaging with suppliers is key as these tasks will form part of your day to day work. You will also manage stock, provide support to sales and all other related tasks.
Arrange prices & commodity contracts against forecast & negotiating payment terms.
• Planning of production process & 3 packing lines in 200 tonne/wk factory.
• Call offs from contracts; spot buying & transfers from external storage to meet plan.
• Packaging management: Buying; artwork development and weekly stock analysis.
• Planning; purchasing; stock control; BOM maintenance & query resolution via Movex.
• Migration of £20m business due to major new customer; SKU rationalisation project.

Job Purpose
To develop, lead, manage and implement a site wide performance improvement strategy which delivers measureable and sustainable improvements in safety, productivity, cost, quality, service and reputation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the development, implementation and execution of the Continuous Improvement Programme at site – priorities, deliverables, resources (£ / FTE / Time), risks & contingencies.
• Drive standardisation and improvement across site Finished Product Operations to ensure:
o Clear, consistent performance metrics and targets are implemented and achieved for assets, quality, HSE, people & finance.
o Robust and consistent budget and re-forecast submissions to include risks, opportunities, constraints and contingencies.
o Monitor performance of site operations vs target and identify contingencies / opportunities to deliver improvement.
• Champion and lead the development of performance management systems such as OEE and MCS at site.
• Business Process Ownership of Site Capital Programme.
o Provide expert support to Business Case Design and rigorously challenge assumptions, benefits (operational & financial), resource requirements and timelines.
o Ensure that all approved and executed capitals are tracked to operational and financial improvement and complete effective Post-Implementation Review.
• Support Packaging Development and Improvement programme at site.
• Deliver training and coaching programmes in line with Supply Chain People Strategy at site.
• Provide knowledge, support and coaching at site on Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement Capability.
• Influence and encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and best practice across the Supply Chain.
Measures of Success
Performance: Performance is maintained at target (or better) consistently each period for:
• Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
• Product Availability (to meet orders)
• Safety, Quality and Food Safety
• Customer Complaints
Cost: Spend remains in-line (or better) than budget (or re-forecast).
Staff: Turnover/retention of staff remains within business target ranges.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
• Extensive & demonstrable experience working in FMCG/Food sector manufacturing (especially packaging).
• Broad experience in initiating and leading performance improvements in a high-volume, FMCG/Food manufacturing environment.
• Experience of working in a lean operating environment, and as part of a high-performance team.
• Outstanding communication ability across all levels of the business and between all functions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high performing teams.
