The role;
" Gather and interpret relevant Supply Chain data.
" Investigate problems, find root causes and develop solutions.

The Client
My client is part of a global blue chip engineering conglomerate; they are a world leader in the design and manufacture of variable speed drives. Their drives are used to control motors in a wide range of applications, from precision machines to high performance elevators. Continued commercial success and the onset of a new long term project, means they are now looking to make the key hire of a Strategic Procurement Commodity Manager.
Scope
This post will form part of the senior management team and has direct responsibility for Purchasing, Planning and Warehousing within European Operations. You will also contribute to the planning and S&OP process of the sub-contract manufacturers supplying European Operations.
The role reports directly to the European Operations Manager with a dotted reporting line to the Global Supply Chain Manager.
Although there is clear direct responsibility, this post is part of a Site Senior Management Team and as such will be expected to contribute to wider goals and initiatives outside that direct line.
Purpose
You will be responsible for the accomplishment of the Senior Management team goals and objectives and to meet delivery and inventory targets through a robust S&OP and a strong Supply Chain. You will also be responsible for the development, including succession planning, of the Procurement, Planning and Warehouse teams.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
CIPS or equivalent Materials/ Operations qualifications.
5-10 years experience in materials roles with at least 3 of these in a Materials Management role.
Experience of Lean techniques.
Proven track record of inventory reduction and continuous improvement.
Strong organisational and leadership skills.
Approachable management style.

At the forefront of the Production Process you will have excellent organisational and analytical skills with the ability to negotiate. You will ensure production schedules reflect customers orders, finished goods inventory whilst taking into account materials and plant capacity.
Responsibilities
Planning
Responsible for creating and maintaining a realistic Master Schedule for your assigned business unit, via the Sales and Operations Planning process.
Responsible to ensure the Master Schedule is accurate and reflects requirements for customer orders, finished goods inventory whilst taking into consideration materials and plant capacity.
CEM forecasting, to provide material, process and manpower capability to meet our business goals.
Inventory pipeline setting and maintenance.
Management of performance and risks through the use of regular conference calls with relevant and CEM personnel.
Customer Orders
Responsible for all customer order promising activities to ensure that they are related with the MPS.
Responsible for the provision of available to promise information and expected ship dates for all products in your business unit.
Shared responsibility with the Production Manager for on time delivery.
Fully knowledgeable of all issues preventing on time delivery and their corrective action.
Available To Promise (ATP)
Responsible for managing the MPS to achieve customer delivery performance in excess of 90% against promise.
Experience & Qualifications
Have previous experience of working as a Planner or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Possess good IT skills particularly Excel.
Be adaptable, flexible and organized in their work approach.
Be highly motivated, enjoy facing new challenges and has a positive attitude to change.
Be a team player with good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
