Job Title: Team Leader - Planning

Overview:
An exciting new vacancy has arisen in our Global Logistics area for a Planning Team Leader. This role will provide leadership and support to a small team of Global Planners and Inventory Controllers focused on provision of warehouse stocking levels, network analysis and customer service requirements.
The team are responsible for the demand management of global spares ensuring adequate inventory levels are planned to support local requirements. The role will take on additional market liaison tasks to build future requirements for the merger of various product groups into a single network solution and ensure the team is structured to delivery customer expectations from the Logistics Platform.
Responsibilities:
" Daily management of the planning team activity.
" Provide leadership in development of planning skills and processes to match global requirements.
" Prepare and analyse inventory plans for cost and service level performance in conjunction with the team.
" Monitor and control actual inventory levels verses plans.
" Manage the reverse logistics process including recommendations on disposal and obsolescence actions.
" Lead the inventory management process including daily reconciliations, root cause analysis, warehouse and supplier improvement actions etc.
" Participate in global network structure, new product introduction planning and organisational development discussions.
" Lead development of the planning tools deployed and assist in identifying new requirements.
" Prepare and manage processes against defined KPI's and performance targets.
Qualifications:
" Degree level qualification in science, engineering or technology based subjects or equivalent industrial experience.
" Competent in ERP Planning techniques and prefereably knowledgable in use of Lawson Movex M3 ERP.
" Previous experience of leading a small highly motivated logistics or planning team.
" Familiar with medical industry service business (desirable).

STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT: Supply Chain
REPORTING TO:Group Procurement Director
Purpose of the Job
The Category Manager will be accountable for all strategic sourcing of goods and/or services in the specific categories assigned to them for the whole Group. This role is responsible for critical complex categories managing procurement spend ranging between £10m and £30m.
Key Activities:
Strategic Sourcing
" Work with relevant business owners to understand the specific business requirements and their implications on the procurement cycle.
" Operates within the marketplace in order to assess and proactively leverage its developments, trends and changes.
" Develop a sustainable, long term and cost effective sourcing strategy for the specific categories that supports the business in achieving its objectives, enables the business to leverage its buying power in the marketplace and delivers value-for-money.
" Communicates effectively the sourcing strategy to all relevant stakeholders in order to get their commitment and support while demonstrating the value it can bring.
Sourcing Execution.
" Commercial strategy definition: define the most appropriate commercial strategy to deliver specific procurement initiatives in terms of requirement structure, supplier base, tools, technology and terms of reference.
" Options assessment: assess the supplier's responses in terms of total cost of ownership, challenge suppliers when appropriate, communicates effectively with business owners to identify benefits and/or issues.
" Supplier negotiation: negotiate commercial terms with suppliers in order to maximise value-for-money.
" Contract definition: define robust contracts from a commercial, risk management and technical point of view.
" Service level agreements development: develop performance focused SLA's and include them in the contracts.
Supplier Relationship Management
" Manage key suppliers to ensure maximum value delivered. Key suppliers need to be managed as business partners in terms of:
o Delivery performance
o Service level agreement compliance
o Demand planning
o Quality assurance and audit
o Improvement opportunities
o Long term planning
o Operational excellence initiatives
" Contact future possible suppliers and continuously benchmark them against the existing supplier base.
Stakeholder Management
" Work with business owners to proactively anticipate issues and/or identify future opportunities.
" Work with business owners to identify solutions and action plans to develop savings initiatives linked closely to the business objectives.
" Partner with Finance to ensure correct reporting of spend and savings data.
" Communicate effectively savings and value delivered by procurement.
Organisation Development
" Manage and develop less experienced procurement professionals in terms of know-how and competencies.
" Develop best practice and design procurement tools and techniques.
" Promote continuous improvement within the sourcing team and function through leadership, vision and team development.
Qualifications and Experience
" Graduate calibre
" Proven experience of successfully management a procurement /category management service, operating in a manufacturing environment. Your experience may be from one or more of the following listed categories, but this is not an exhaustive list:
o Engineering
o Raw Materials
o Logistics & Distribution
o Indirect Services
" A proven track record of influencing business owners in high value procurement projects in a commercial environment.
" Knowledge and understanding of specific market dynamics and trends, including:
o Market drivers;
o Key players (supplier, customers);
o Regulation;
o Technology; and
o Overall PESTLE elements
" Proven experience in the application of:
o Procurement tools and techniques;
o Value Analysis;
o Cost Engineering;
o Process Mapping;

Our Client is a well established global Engineering company employing around 3,500 staff over 9 countries. They manufacture a variety of interconnection solutions for harsh environments and aim to be the supplier of choice in their chosen markets, which range from Defence, Civil Aerospace, Autosport to Recreational vehicles. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for providing technical support to the Purchasing Department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support to Suppliers in trouble shooting production problems.
• Purchase supplies of materials, components, and services to the appropriate quality standards and at the lowest cost.
• Initiate method improvement and cost saving projects with Production and Suppliers.
• Support Production/Sales Engineering in the preparation of Process Specifications and Routings.
• Assist and provide concise information to our suppliers for manufacturing purposes.
• Obtain written quotations for the purchase of raw materials, components and services.
• Be responsible for the preparation and authorisation of purchase orders.
• Liaise with Engineering and Production Engineering to ensure components are designed for manufacture.
• Be participative in the Vendor Management improvement program.
• Obtaining an in depth knowledge of defined Key Suppliers and their products and services.
• Being aware of potential problems in suppliers services and to be able to take remedial action when required.
• Preparing specific development plans and introducing Lean techniques with the Supplier.
• Carry out formal technical audits of suppliers as and when required.
• Observe Health and Safety regulations in line with company procedure and Government legislation.
Essential Job Skills:
• Must hold an ONC/HNC in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• At least 3 years experience in a production environment or a related industry.
• The ability to work under your own initiative to trouble shoot problems with Suppliers as they arise.
• The ability to make key business decisions and recommendations.
• The ability to communicate internally and with suppliers at all levels.
• Membership of CIPS is desirable although not essential.
• Machine and Plating shop bias preferred, but not essential.
