TITLE: Strategic Buyer/Commodity Leader
REPORTS TO: Materials Manager
BASIC FUNCTION:
This position will be responsible for developing and executing an approved commodity strategy, supplier sourcing and relationship management, commercial agreements negotiations and management, and various forms of continuous improvement for assigned commodities.
SPECIFIC & ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
" Establish a multi-year strategy for assigned commodities on an annual basis and taking into consideration the overall business objectives.
" Negotiate and manage various forms of commercial agreements.
" Strategic supplier sourcing, selection, and management. Leverage opportunities with other Business Units where applicable.
" Strengthen strategic Supplier relationships through various collaborative continuous improvement initiatives and projects including cost reduction, quality / delivery objectives, and other performance measurements.
" Support and facilitate early Supplier involvement in new and current product design improvements. Manage costs and Supplier performance for critical components as identified within a project.
" Cross functional team leadership, facilitation, and project management requirements.
" Assist the tactical purchasing group on production schedule attainment issues where resolution requires assistance.
" Accountable for all aspects of purchase price variance, inflation, and deflation planning for assigned commodities (budgeting, execution, and causals).
" Work with the tactical buying team to develop material transition planning and execution to support resourcing efforts.
" Responsible for resolving and correcting various financial issues and discrepancies with Suppliers.
" Other assignments and tasks as requested from the Materials Manager.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
" BA/BS in Business, Engineering, or other degree
" CIPS certifications are preferred or currently studying for CIPS
" Training and knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma tools are desired
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
" 3-5 years experience in Purchasing / Supply Chain Mgt. at an O.E.M (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or Tier #1 Supplier manufacturing environment with at least 1 year of strategic purchasing experience.
" Previous tactical procurement and technical purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Job Purpose
To develop, lead, manage and implement a site wide performance improvement strategy which delivers measureable and sustainable improvements in safety, productivity, cost, quality, service and reputation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the development, implementation and execution of the Continuous Improvement Programme at site – priorities, deliverables, resources (£ / FTE / Time), risks & contingencies.
• Drive standardisation and improvement across site Finished Product Operations to ensure:
o Clear, consistent performance metrics and targets are implemented and achieved for assets, quality, HSE, people & finance.
o Robust and consistent budget and re-forecast submissions to include risks, opportunities, constraints and contingencies.
o Monitor performance of site operations vs target and identify contingencies / opportunities to deliver improvement.
• Champion and lead the development of performance management systems such as OEE and MCS at site.
• Business Process Ownership of Site Capital Programme.
o Provide expert support to Business Case Design and rigorously challenge assumptions, benefits (operational & financial), resource requirements and timelines.
o Ensure that all approved and executed capitals are tracked to operational and financial improvement and complete effective Post-Implementation Review.
