Advanced Purchasing Engineer
General information
" Working within a strategic purchasing department, the role of advanced purchasing engineer is to participate in new product development projects and co-ordinate all purchasing activities related to product launch.

£30000 to £35000 per annum
Job Objectives
" Active input and supplier integration into product development process.
" Coordinator for purchasing in Target costing and value analysis projects.
" To assist as needed the commodity managers with projects, i.e. supplier resourcing or investigation of new suppliers/territories.
Description of duties
" Supplier integraton, risk management and technology input for R&D projects
" Negotiation.
" Support FMEA process with suppliers.
" Contract negotiation of development contracts.
" Represent the interests of purchasing within development project.
" Reduction of suppliers.
" Standardisation.
" Component specifications.
" Supplier selection.
" Make or Buy.
" Assuarnce of availability of all materials.
" Data management including start of serial production.
" Interface to commodity manager and operative purchasing.
Required competencies:
Education:
" Degree qualified.
" CIPS qualified desirable.
Work experience:
" Global production purchasing experience with an automotive or related manufacturing company.
" Experience in structured project management process.
" Proven track record of achievement in a relevant position.
Skills & knowledge:
" Technical background required.
" Proven understanding in supply chain management and process control and optimisation.
" Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
" Knowledge in UK contract law.
" Working knowledge of SAP R3 an advantage.
Attitudes:
" Must be highly self motivated.
" Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Other requirements
" Will be required to travel.
" Must hold a full driving licence / passport.
