Head of Sourcing - Forging, Casting and Fabrication

Summary
A new role reporting directly to the Managing Director as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).
Functional, strategic responsibility for the procurement of all production and non-production items/services (approximately £9 million annually).
Establish and drive a cost reduction programme (minimum target 20% in year 1 through the application of a focused sourcing strategy.
Duties
Functionally and strategically manage the sourcing team to ensure the delivery of the business cost reduction programme.
Repesent the sourcing function at monthly meetings. Providing performance feedback and recommending future sourcing strategy.
Work closely with the Quality function to ensure that the excellent quality and reliability reputation of the business is maintained.
Establish partnerships with suppliers through long term supply agreements where applicable.
Provide proactive approach and set demanding targets for suppliers and colleagues to ensure delivery objectives to meet Company requirements.
Proactively provide information throughout the business to ensure customer delivery commitments can be achieved.
Carry out commercial appraisals of potential suppliers and ensure that potential suppliers are vetting in accordance with the requirements of ISO9001.
Expedite deliveries as necessary to support Buyers, ensuring that materials are available as required.
Monitor supplier performance through a vendor rating system and ensure that standards are maintained at the highest level.
Ensure that the continuous improvement process is pursued vigorously and progress is monitored and reported.
Ensure the Business is aware of current product prices and trends.
Provide coverage for the duties of sourcing team members in times of high resource demand.
Qualifications and Skills
Chartered Institute of Purchasing and supply qualified (i.e degree level).
A minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience of procurement skills in heavy engineering or rotating equipment.
Particular experience in the global procurement of forgings, castings and fabrications.
Strong negotiation, expediting skills, team working and leadership skills.
Excellent IT skills and knowledge of procurement/manufacturing software systems.

Main purpose of job: Identify synergies and opportunities for savings potential associated with outbound logistics and help to effect those opportunities with the UK region.
Responsibilities
Data collection, collation and analysis (contract status, service level requirements, routes, tariffs etc)
Liaison with UK sites/divisions
Liaison with suppliers
Benchmarking and comparative analysis
Support tender preparation, issue, analysis and negotiation process.
Profile
Business Studies to HNC or equivalent, or Purchasing professional qualifications.
Numerate and articulate.
Experience in Purchasing or Logistics functions.
Knowledge of tendering/sourcing process is desirable.
Knowledge of Logistics supplier marketplace.
Experience of liaising with enthusiasm, flexibility and integrity.
Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook proficient.
Well organised with strong communication skills across all levels.
Valid driving licence and ability to be mobile to travel to UK sites.
Confident and reliable with ability to plan and meet deadlines.
