Aerospace Technical Sales Manager
Our client strives to build its Aerospace business, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development professional to work for the Head of Sales to identify and secure new business opportunities to support the achievement of the Companys strategic objectives.
Specific Duties
Work with the Head of Sales to transit strategic objectives into short and medium term opportunities.
Use market knowledge and experience to generate, manage and deliver new opportunities.
Work with a cross functional team within our clients team to compile technically and financially sound proposals for presentation to the customer.
Liaise and negotiate with potential customers to secure new business that meets the needs of both the client and the customer.
Conduct research to identify potential customers for partnership, joint venture opportunities, understand the competition and how the client should be positioned to win new business.
Develop sound, new business plans for approval.
Maintain customer relationships by continuing to identify their needs and requirements, identifying and delivering opportunities to secure new business and improve service.
Manage all commercial aspects of customer accounts.
Skills & Attributes
Essential
Experience working in both Technical and Business Development capacity.
Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Previous experience working within an engineering sector.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written that can present information effectively and professionally to potential customers and Senior management.
Excellent relationship building skills.
Sound IT skills.
The ability to interpret, use and draw valid conclusions from business statistics, management reports and financial information.
The ability to define problems, collate data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate decisions.
The ability and motivation to win new business through personal follow-through and orchestrating a team approach.
Ability to manage projects in a timely fashion.
Desirable
Knowledge of Aerospace technical architecture; be that from a material or component level within various platform systems and sub-systems.
Experience in a similar Business Development role in the Aerospace industry; Tier 1, Tier 2, MRO etc.
European or Asian language skills.
Good financial understanding.

Provide our customers with an outstanding product range, with products that are famous for being exciting, special, quality, good value for money, and which make our customer smile. Develop a product range that is successful in exceeding the growth aspirations across all channels. Create powerful sub-brands, ensure our product range is step-changed within AYR gifting & personalisation, and also ensuring successful delivery of the key season & strong innovation within the impulse and share categories.
Key Accountabilities
-Management of overheads budget in excess of £1.7m.
-Manage Gift activity costs to less than £350k (non activity budgeted at £280k).
-Manage impulse and share activity costs to less than £310k (non activity budgeted at £200k).
-Manage seasonal activity costs to less than £140k (non activity budgeted at £330k).
-Oversee the licensing income generation to the business in excess of £1m with growth.
-Manage, lead and develop a team of 17 (6 direct and 11 indirect reports).
-Oversee the entire SKU mix across the business and the entire product development plan.
- Develop and manage the agreed product development plan (encompassing both product refreshes & true innovation) that delivers and exceeds the growth aspirations across all channels.
- Work with your team and channel stakeholders to help shape strong and supporting underpinning processes with clear and concise decision making accountabilities. Help shape a new product development (refresh and innovation) process that is fit for purpose against the new business structures.
- Work with the Brand & sub-brands strategy - ensure all of our agreed sub-brands have clear and compelling propositions and ensure strong communication of this strategy internally. Create at least one sub-brand for launch into the market across all channels in 2012.
- Own and develop the 3 year product development and marketing strategy. Ensure the Product Group Managers each have 1-3 year brand plans in place and well communicated internally. Lead and develop the team so that marketing become renowned for being an outstanding business partner to other functions.
- Deliver against the new flagship boxed chocolate brand, and ensure we step change our offer across both gifting and personalisation. Deliver strong execution and growth of the seasons and successfully launch innovation within impulse and share.
- Ensure packaging and concept developments are equally strong components of NPD.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of market, customer and product data. Act upon insights by influencing the future product direction and strategy.
- Develop an agreed process for working in partnership effectively with Retail, TD and Commercial.
- Ensure the product plans in place deliver against critical channel objectives in line with the brand and customer priorities.

Knowledge / Skills
- Exstensive experience of working in an FMCG and / or multi channel environment, with at least 3-5 years specific marketing and NPD experience.
- Experience of developing strong strategies that deliver category and market growth, and that are based on key market, competitor and consumer insights.
- Solid understanding of brand strategy and experience of launching and integrating new products in line with brand strategies.
- Proven analytical ability in order to interpret complex data and take action on key data.
- Ability to flex and adapt in order to still deliver when faced with uncertainty, barriers and challenges.
- Project Management experience and qualifications proven track record of leading multiple and cross functional projects.
- Ability to lead change within the business.
- Proven ability to learn from the world around us and act upon key insights from the market, customer etc.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent & ideally CIM qualified.
- Experience of successfully managing a multi functional marketing team.
