Overview: The Technical Brand Manager is focussed at delivering large scale business projects and is:
• The owner in R&D of the Brand Equity, Strategy, Consumer.
– Equivalent of a Brand Manager in Marketing: Steward of the Brand.
– Approaches from the Technical Viewpoint.
• Product & Package Attributes.
• Consumer Experience/Usage of the Product & Package.
• Expert in Consumer Habits, Practices, Usage, & Needs within the category.
– Needs to understand these aspects to define superior products in any new development.
• Quality improvement – what drives acceptance?
• New products – what does the consumer really want in the product?
• Understand cost/value – which attributes do consumers really value and want to pay for and which they do not value.
• A key player in a multifunctional team and key liaison between departments.
– Represents the R&D aspects in strategy selection, project prioritization, and research planning.
Essential Experience:
- Food raw material & process understanding.
- Product design & development.
- Understanding of consumer & customer requirements.
- Project management.
- Commercial awareness.
- Financial Awareness.
- Local & European Food product & labelling regulations.
- Specification origination.
- Change agent, impact and influence, leadership, bold delivery.
- Degree or equivalent.
- 5 years experience within food/drink industry.
Job Purpose:
To identify & deliver opportunities for NPD & renovation.
To identify & deliver improvements in productivity eg harmonisation, value engineering and cost savings, and implement technical changes.
To maintain awareness of developments in the supply chain of major material items.
To manage technical aspects of launches into new markets.
To provide technical input to support product claims, PR, advertising & trade/consumer enquiries.
To maintain a constant awareness of competitor activity, regularly review competitor products & propose routes for maintaining competitive advantage.
Line manage & direct activities of a team of technologists.
